Patient-specific knee replacements (Trumatch)
Patient-specific instrumented (PSI) knee replacement
Patient-specific instrumented knee replacement uses pre-operative imaging, such as CT or MRI, to create a 3D digital model of your knee. Custom surgical guides are then designed to match your individual anatomy.
Mr Pavlou may recommend this approach for patients with:
- Significant deformity
- Previous fractures
- Retained metalwork from prior surgery that interferes with standard knee replacement insertion
Potential benefits
- Personalised surgical planning
- Improved implant positioning
- Reduced operative time
- Better management of complex anatomy
- Preservation of healthy bone
Recovery and outcomes are generally similar to standard knee replacement. Mr Pavlou will advise if this technique is appropriate for you.
